Communications/Marketing
This committee is responsible for internal and external communications to include writing and compiling The WBO Informer newsletter, creating and distributing meeting flyers , updating and maintaining the organization website, coordinating with media outlets to ensure information share of WBO meetings and sending email blasts to the WBO database. Community Outreach
The Community Outreach committee plans all participation and projects with charitable organizations, causes, and social advocacy. oThis includes WBO’s support of local charities and initiatives as it relates to volunteerism and monetary or time donations. Legislative/Advocacy
The Legislative/Advocacy committee is responsible for the primary communication and information exchange between the WBO, the Prince Georges County government and other legislative bodies, including the state legislature and Congress. This committee also functions as a primary source of information for the organization with regard to legislation effecting small businesses. Click here to reach committee chair, Octavia Caldwell.

Fundraising/Sponsorship
This committee solicits funding on behalf of our 501 C(3) for WBO initiatives, primarily through drives, activities and special events including the annual conference and awards gala. The committee plans organization fundraisers benefit these initiatives. Some other fundraisers to date include spa gift cards, networking teas, and wine tastings. The Membership Committee is responsible for coordinating membership activities including the processing of new members, updating membership rosters, managing membership renewal, hosting membership drives and reception at WBO meetings and events. Other duties of this committee include membership database management, directory and Hospitality. The membership committee is led by Tami Mullen who can be reached here.

Program
The Program committee is responsible for the planning of monthly meetings in coordination with the Communications and Special Events committees. Duties include the research and coordination of guest speakers, negotiation of venue terms, and the production of meeting programs. Please contact us here for more information.

This committee is responsible for the planning and execution of the annual business conference and awards gala to include venue and vendor negotiation, and coordination, logistical management. This committee functions as a support team to event producers. Other duties include the coordination of program components and flow, budget maintenance and functioning as a communication conduit for both the Board, and general membership.
