1) How do I join the WBO-PGC?

2) Do I have to live or have a business in Prince George’s County to join?

No. In fact, our members have businesses located in other areas and some live in other counties. There are no restrictions.


3) How much are the dues?

Dues are $75 annually for business owners; $125 for 2-3 owners of the same business; $150 for 4-6 owners of the same business. Other membership categories are $100 for associate member (e.g., Director of an institution or nonprofit organization that furthers the success of women business owners) and $500 for supporting member (e.g., bank, utility that supports women-owned businesses).

4) What are the benefits of belonging to WBO-PGC?

Among our many benefits, we offer monthly networking events, grants to start-up and existing women-owned businesses, a newsletter, member of the month to showcase your business, information on other networking and special events, an entrepreneur’s exchange, fundraising and social events, friendship, and support. Can I join even if I haven’t started my business?

Definitely! In fact, the WBO is a great organization that will enable you to network, find necessary resources, and support that you will need to establish and grow your business. We offer grants to start-up and existing businesses to our members.


How do I qualify for a grant?

You must be a 51% woman-owned start-up or existing business that is for profit or nonprofit. The process is easy…complete a grant application which includes submission of your business plan and a short interview. The grants are awarded each year at our gala held in May.


How do I become member of the month?

The Member of the Month is chosen at each monthly meeting by drawing a business card from those in attendance. The business of the member of the month is profiled in the next newsletter and on the organization website. In addition, the member is featured on the program at the next regular meeting and given a time slot to present a business overview.


Can I provide a door prize?

Absolutely! Any member or nonmember is welcome to provide a door prize at any event. The donor will be recognized either by announcement or in writing, depending upon the event.
