WBO mission is to foster relationships, support business growth,
and provide assistance and education through the leveraging of
our collective resources.
Since our inception in 1986, WBO has successfully supported business
owners by providing the necessary tools for members to establish
and cultivate their businesses into flourishing community entities.
WBO membership provides multiple opportunities to exchange ideas,
information and inspiration -three tools necessary for entrepreneurial
success.

Dawn Jackson has been the owner and operator of Nudawn Marketing Group, Inc., an independent marketing consultant firm specializing in strategic marketing solutions , for going on six years. Her company focuses on corporate branding, strategy and planning, image design, and website design and development. Following her graduation from Hampton University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Media Arts, Ms. Jackson began her professional career as a business developer and contract negotiator for the Department of Navy. She made her mark by negotiating multi-billion dollar contracts with top defense contractors. Unable to ignore her true passions of marketing, sales and writing, she joined Black Entertainment Television (BET) as an Affiliate Relations Manager, responsible for the sales, service and distribution of three networks. After many sales successes Ms. Jackson joined BET.com. As head of Marketing Promotions for offline and online marketing activity, she was instrumental in designing, developing and establishing the BET.com corporate brand image.
Ms. Jackson and her design team, led by Principal Art Director, Marck Estemil, currently provide marketing services to businesses seeking brand definition, market and business development strategy, as well as, project management. Some of her clients include BET Foundation, Byrd Records Universal Music Group, Higher Heights Consulting & Training, RARE Consulting Group, Gowns Remembered, GM Associates, Career By Design, and many more. In addition to her duties as the President/CEO of Nudawn Marketing, she serves as the President and Gala Chairperson of the organization. She and her team are responsible for the organization website and marketing materials. Dawn currently resides in Bowie, MD with her husband of 12 years, and their four beautiful children.
Glenda Motta, a nurse who specializes in skin wellness, offers a unique approach to help women and men with all skin types achieve optimum results. Glenda recognizes that everyone’s skin is different and believes it is critical to have an expert, such as herself, sensor the skin and recommend high quality products formulated with ingredients that work exclusively for each individual skin type. Glenda is also the author of the book, “Coping with Endometriosis,” a practical guide to living with this chronic condition affecting millions of women. She is President and CEO of GM Associates, Inc., a premier consulting firm that offers medical device, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and healthcare providers a wide range of services. These include: strategic reimbursement planning and problem solving, clinical research studies, marketing and sales support, education, and expert witness testimony.

Kathleen E. Driver is the founder, and former CEO of techSERV solutions inc. She started the healthcare information technology firm in 1996 and served as CEO until she decided to close the company in 2004. Ms. Driver and her employees provided healthcare information technology implementation and consulting services to mid-large sized healthcare organizations nationally. Since closing her company, Ms. Driver has provided project management and executive oversight on various projects and business operations and currently works with various individuals and organizations to facilitate workshops and to provide unique, personal development tools and forums for women in business and other walks of life.
Prior to starting techSERV solutions, Ms. Driver worked at a number of hospitals in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area and Baltimore. She has more than twenty-five years of experience in the healthcare information technology industry.
Ms. Driver is currently working on several writing projects, two of which are scheduled for self-publication in 2006.
She has served on the Board of Directors for The Women Business Owners of Prince Georges County (WBO) for the past several years and is currently serving in the capacity of Vice-President and Secretary.
Ms. Driver is an active participant in the community, supporting numerous charity events and fundraising activities. She worships at First Baptist Church of North Brentwood in Maryland.
In her spare time, Ms. Driver enjoys reading, writing, crafting, decorating, gardening, and traveling. She is a graduate of Virginia State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.

Gina M. Baker is President
and CEO of Baker Financial Services (BFS), LLC, a customized financial
solutions firm for home-based and small businesses, specializing
in accounting, bookkeeping, taxes, budgeting, financial planning
and consulting services. As President Gina, an astute business
women and information technology specialist, leads the business
of deploying application specific technology in the financial
industry. Headquartered near the Washington, D.C., BFS serves
clients such as Exxon-Mobil, Black Entertainment Television (BET),
Global One, the State of Maryland Department of Rehabilitations
Services and K-Spa of Virginia to name a few.
Before beginning her firm in 1992, Ms. Baker served as the senior
financial consultant for Sony Disc Manufacturing, Lucent Technologies
and Siemens Credit Corporation. She also served as the Vice President
of Baker & Bynum Financial Services.
Gina M. Baker received an MBA in Business Management from Southeastern
University, Washington, DC in 1987; a Bachelor of Science in Business
Administration /Accounting from Buffalo State University, Buffalo,
NY in 1981; and an Associates degree in Business Administration
from Erie Community College, Buffalo, NY in 1977. Her credentials
also include a certificate in Business Skills Training Program,
from the , Women Entrepreneurs of Baltimore, MD, June 1999, as
well as the Adaytum Certification Program, Adaytum University,
Minneapolis, MN, 1999.
Gina,
a native of Buffalo, New York, is the youngest of four girls.
One of her sisters works for BFS. Both of her parents are deceased.
Her father worked for Erie-Lackawanna railroad, while her mother,
who had a great influence on her career choice, worked as a small
entrepreneur. Gina currently resides in Temple Hills, MD and has
one adult son Keon, 25 and one granddaughter, Keami, 7.

WBO offers several opportunities to participate on various committees
to achieve our goal of helping our members grow and develop their
businesses. It is important that each member actively participate
on at least one committee.
Plans for relative programs, monthly
meetings, access to politicians, seminars, networking events,
grant awards can more effectively come into fruition with the full participation
of our membership.
WBO Committees
Communications
This committee is responsible for internal and external communications
to include writing and compiling The WBO Informer newsletter,
creating meeting flyers for distribution to various outlets, updating
and maintaining the organization website, coordinating with media
outlets to ensure information share of WBO meetings and sending
emails to WBO database about all meetings, alerts and special
events. Subcommittees include Publicity, Newsletter, Website and
Promotions. There are currently no additional members
Fundraising
This committee designs and plans organization fundraisers that
benefit the Business Grant Award. Some fundraisers to date include
spa gift cards, networking teas, and wine tastings. There are
currently no additional members.
Gala
This committee is responsible for the planning and execution of
annual gala to Include venue and vendor negotiation, sponsorship
solicitation and coordination, logistical management. This committee
functions as event planners to include the coordination of program
components and flow, budget maintenance and communication conduit
for both the board, and general membership. Members include Dawn
Jackson, Carole Morton, Donna Arrington, and Taren Coleman
Grant
The Grant Committee is responsible for the development of the
WBO-PGC Business Grant application and instruction, to include
terms, selection criteria and process. They also review submitted
applications for selection and grant award. Members include Leslie
Branson, Saundra Walker-Harris and Evelyn English.
Government
Affairs
This committee is responsible for the primary communication and
information exchange between the WBO, the Prince Georges County
government and other legislative bodies, including the state legislature
and Congress. This committee also functions as a primary source
of information for the organization with regard to legislation
effecting small businesses. There are currently no other members.
Membership
This committee is responsible for coordinating membership activities
including the processing of new members, updating membership rosters,
renewing memberships, holding membership drives and checking members
and guests in at monthly meetings. Sub-committees include: Database
Management and Hospitality
Program
Planning & Special Events
This committee is responsible for the planning of monthly meetings
and any special events. Duties include the research and coordination
of guest speakers and negotiation of terms for any event outside
regular meeting. There are currently no additional members.
Special
Projects
This committee plans all projects outside of any falling under
the guise of other committees. This includes WBO-PGC’s participation
in sponsorship or fundraising activities (i.e. races, telethons,
etc.) outside the organization. There are currently no committee
members.

Member of the Month
The WBO Member of the Month is selected at each monthly meeting
via business card draw. The chosen member is then featured in
the WBO Informer newsletter, on our website and at the program
of the next monthly meeting! The designated Member of the Month
gets a 5 minute slot on the program to present her business at
the monthly meeting. She can also distribute her marketing materials
or premium items to meeting attendants. Our special member will
also choose the next month’s lucky member.
WEX
The Women’s Entrepreneurial Exchange (WEX) is a smaller group within WBO who function as business development entity using a cross-mentoring approach. The purpose of the group is to provide structure, recommendations, and moral support for each member to further her business success.
These self directed, cross mentoring groups meet twice a month, by teleconference and e-mail to discuss topics that are of immediate impact to the group members’ business growth and development. The WEX groups have had success in the past and there are wonderful testimonies as to how they have helped the group members make significant business progress. Mentorship
This program
is designed to match a newer business-owning member with a more
seasoned business owner from the same or complementary discipline
in a mentor/mentee capacity. The mentor provides one-on-one support,
guidance and instruction as the mentee develops her business.
This program is currently in the development stage.
